At the time when the function and nature of the building change, how to reposition the diversified role faced by the public building in the new context without severing the historical memory of the public building has become the starting point for the design of the renovation project.
The oblique elements of the facade respect the community texture of the West Sichuan slope roof and form a sequential framework to show the indoor scene. The openness of the plaza sets up a volume of order. From the plaza to the overpass, a series of events happened in those communal spaces that made up this community. This building and events have been blurred and become one story. People walked on the overpass, read the book on the stairs, worked out at the plaza, chats in the gallery has becoming a part of the building.
The water culture hall and bamboo culture hall have organized two important cultures in this land. The hall itself has been sculptured as a visual reality. Through creating a route for visitors, the experience has been enhanced. Different display methods also create space more fun and playful. Traditional culture hall alone with a digital surface, community news has been updated periodically.
Light and shadow in the hallway and tearoom bring the natural element and inspiration to the visitor. After renovation, this theater has become more flexible to launch up more activities. Reading room and study room on the 2nd-floor bridge the quiet areas and busy areas. The openness of the bleach stair speeds up communication and provides a social environment.
