Date19 Wuhan is a boutique apparel store that serves as a platform for emerging designers. Located in Wuhan, China, the Date19 Flagship store encapsulates pop culture's essence. Creating a continuous movement from the column to ceiling by prefabricated aluminum metal forms, an open space transforms the traditional retail experience to an outside and landscape.
The concept derived from nature and the organic forms that resemble what we call “a fashion tree”, which directly references the Date19 label. Prefabricated aluminum metal structures have been used to build the “fashion tree” that runs from column to ceiling. Fashion products are transformed into lingering fruits that hang from the tree.
The openness of the architecture has blurred the lines between inside and outside, making the area more welcoming to the public. We transformed an ordinary shopping trip into a journey. A “fashion tree” has been incorporated creating a natural and outdoor environment. Combining a clothing store and a café results in a hybrid concept, which will bring added value and traffic to the venue.
Design the ceiling and column as a whole to create a fashion tree scenario. The garments emulate fruits of this stylish tree. Hangers where custom made of stainless steel string. Exhibition shelves feature a variety of looks. Plates to exhibit accessories, are made of stainless steel and are constructed as a mortise to fit into a tendon embedded in the wall. The art toy cabinet was created as an extension of the fashion tree. The core cutting cube with monochromatic tiles produce various volumetric structures that match swiftly the geometric structure with its organic counter part.A carved logo on the wall, displays exposed wood grain that resembles the wood essence throughout the space. The large mirror create a variety of whimsical illusions, making it the perfect spot for an Instagram moment.
The continual movement of the ceiling has unveiled a deliberate circulation. Because the original location was designed in the shape of a "c," The reception and fitting rooms are located in the central area. The boutique sector on the south side features designer apparel and accessories. The East Side is known for its homegrown designers. A cafe with a bar and chairs is located on the north side. Depending on where they are positioned, the track lights installed between the ceiling panels become ambient or task lights.
The large ceiling design has filtered natural light, which converts it into a soft light aimed at the hallway, providing consumers with a more smooth comfortable environment. This avoids blocking the natural light throughout the afternoon reduced utility expenses. This space is adaptive, it can easily be converted into a restaurant, cafe, furniture shop, museum, or co-working space.
